Buying new bed sheets is not as easy as it might sound. It has become even harder nowadays because of the bedding companies flooding the market. Your reasons for buying new bed sheets might range from your desire to upgrade to switching brands.

It is often because you want something better than what you are currently using. But, this task can be made easier if you make sure you know the following fundamental attributes. The weave you want, the finish, where the sheets are manufactured, environmental impact, the size of your bed, your budget, season (summer or winter), the type of sleeper you are, will they fit your laundry routine, do they match your bedroom style, and many more.

You may be wondering why thread count is missing from the list. Well, in the past, it would have been the first on the list but not today. Thread count does not tell the quality of the fabric. You can have a fabric with a high thread count but low quality. What you should be looking for instead is the fibers used, weave, and location of manufacture.

Tencel has dramatically gained popularity because of the benefits it promises. This is where the Royal Hotel ABRIPEDIC Tencel Sheets come in. These sheets might be exactly what you are looking for. Read this detailed review to know whether these sheets match your needs and personal preferences.

Note that we have bought and used these sheets. This honest and unbiased information is derived from our experience/interaction with these sheets.

What are Royal Hotel ABRIPEDIC Tencel Sheets Made of?

These Royal Hotel ABRIPEDIC Tencel sheets are made of 100% Tencel lyocell. Tencel is the brand name for two sets of fibers, modal and lyocell. These sheets are specifically made of lyocell fibers from sustainably-harvested raw eucalyptus trees. The eucalyptus’ wood pulp is dissolved in a chemical solvent and then pushed through an extruder to form fibers. The chemical solvents used are less toxic and get reused/recycled in the process, so there is minimal waste.

Our Royal Hotel ABRIPEDIC Tencel Sheets Review

There are numerous reasons why customers write reviews about the products they have used. They may have liked the product or otherwise. They may also want to voice their experience and expectations with the company’s customer service.

With this kind of information in the review section, it is crucial for you (customer) to always check other customers’ reviews. Why? Well, you can learn first-hand experience from real users. You can also know what the other customers liked most and what they did not like about the product, which is the bedsheet.

Furthermore, you can learn about the company’s credibility to avoid fraudsters( there are millions of them out there). It does not hurt to be careful, right?. Reviews minimizes the dependability we all have on adverts about the products. Without demeaning advertisements in any way, they can be deceiving.

Different reviews are based on different aspects ranging from cost, durability, maintenance to quality, and more. A feature that one customer did not like about the product might be what you are looking for. With this kind of information at your disposal, you can make a sober decision about whether or not to purchase the product.

We wrote this review based on the comfort, quality, eco-score, cooling, and easy maintenance features of these bedsheets. Read the detailed information below on each feature to understand why/how these sheets rated on a scale of 1 to 10.

Comfort (8.4/10)

We did not expect what these sheets felt like because of their silky-satin appearance and lightweight. These sheets were luxuriously soft and very comfortable. From the moment we spread these sheets, they were cool to touch soothingly, even with the roasting heat outside.

We slept very cool on these sheets. This cool sleeping environment seemed to elevate our sleep. We woke up well-rested, relaxed, and happy. However, their pockets seemed not to be sewn for a deep mattress like ours.

The elastic was thin and didn’t hold on our sheet, so it pulled if we tossed or turned. This was even made worse because these sheets are slippery (though not slippery that you slide off the bed). Since we did not want to sacrifice the comfort of these sheets by throwing them out, we invested in those elastic clippy things to keep them on the mattress (even if it meant spending a few more dollars). This is why we rated the comfort of these sheets at 8.4 out of 10.

Quality (9.5/10)

Would you be more satisfied if you knew that the sheets you buy are worth every penny you spend on them? When it comes to quality, these sheets did not disappoint.

They draped nicely on our bed with their shiny blue color that amazingly complemented our bedroom. They seemed like silk sheets after unwrapping them, which made us wary. We breathed a sigh of relief after we slipped into bed because these sheets were luxuriously soft.

It felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. You know what it means when you sleep in this kind of luxury (hitting that snooze button countless times because you do not feel like waking up). We have a dog that occasionally jumps and sleeps on our bed, leaving behind pet hairs on our sheets. These sheets became our favorite because the pet hair brushes off so easily.

Furthermore, we did not even need to use any fabric softener because these sheets do not retain any odor. We loved the fabric more because the blue set we bought has not faded even a bit despite our regular washes. Now that we have mentioned the washing, these sheets came out softer than before after our first wash. Incredible right?

We decided to rate quality at 9.5 out of 10 despite their quality. These sheets felt too thin and wrinkled badly.

Eco-Score (8.0/10)

Tencel is rapidly changing the face of fashion with its sustainability and environmental impact production. We had used 55% cotton and 45% Tencel sheets before, so we were not new to tencel when we purchased this set. We decided to try these sheets because the company promised nearly zero negative environmental impact during production. We looked deeper into Tencel, a brand name for lyocell and modal fibers (lyocell fibers are used in these sheets), and this is what we found out.

Tencel (lyocell) is made from wood pulp of eucalyptus trees sourced from sustainably managed plantations. The wood pulp is dissolved in a chemical solvent known as N-methylmorpholine N-oxide then pushed through an extruder to form these fibers. This process of production is called the closed-loop process. This process ensures that the solvent is recycled/reused (at a rate of 99%) to produce these fibers, thus minimizing harmful waste emissions.

We rate the eco-score at 8.0 out of ten because to attain the vibrant colors these sheets possess, conventional dyes are used. These traditional dyes can be harmful to our environment. It is not that bad because Tencel is more absorbent and holds up dyes better than cotton; thus, less dyes will be used.

There was also an environmental concern about the energy used by Tencel fabric during the production process. The company says they have acknowledged and are working to address the issue by increasing the use of renewable energy.

Cooling (9.0/10)

Even if you are not a hot sleeper, you cannot deny that cool sheets elevate our sleep. After removing these sheets from the packaging bag, they were cool to touch. This heightened our confidence in them. We had to wash them first before using them. It is always recommended to wash your sheets before using them because it allows the yarns to bloom and create a softer feel.

When we slept in these sheets, they did not disappoint. I’m a hot sleeper, and I have not woken up all sweaty even a single day. This made us believe that these sheets are amazingly breathable because it was roasting hot outside, making our bedroom extremely warm. They completely did their job without fail, just as the company had promised. We woke up on a completely dry bed, which made us believe that these sheets are also moisture-wicking. During the freezing winter temperatures, their cool to touch feel made us a little afraid. But in these sheets, we slept amazingly warm and cozy. In fact, they warm up pretty fast.

Since these sheets are our favorite at the moment, they are regularly washed. The more we wash these sheets, the less they seem to breathe. I still sleep cool, but not as cool as before. This is why we rated the cooling feature a 9.0 out of 10. We do not know what our future holds, though ( in their cooling sector).

Easy maintenance (8.7/10)

Maintenance of bedsheets can make you leave them out if the instructions do not match your laundry routine. With how thin and lightweight these sheets felt, we presumed them to be delicate. This made us keen to look at their care routine before buying them. We found the routine easy peasy because we own other Tencel fabrics whose care routine is not different.

We washed them separately in cold water, delicate cycle with an all free and clear detergent and hung dried them. In the end, when they were slightly damp, we put them in the dryer on low heat, delicate tumble dry for 15 minutes.

What led to our 8.7 out of 10 rating was that despite our effort of following all the instructions to the tee, the sheets wrinkled so badly. We had to press them with a warm (not hot) iron before spreading them. This was a disappointment because the 100% Tencel promises to be wrinkle resistant. We also noticed that the shiny blue sheet we ordered was less shiny after the wash.

Final verdict 8.7

From experience we had with these sheets, we can say that we loved them. Their quality was worth every dollar we spent on them. All the features discussed above, their average rating of 8.7, shows that these sheets are way better than average sheets. We can wholeheartedly cope with their shortcomings, like ironing due to how they wrinkle for the numerous advantages they offer.

Since the sheet set we bought was not properly sized, you could make sure you measure the size of your mattress and the topper (if it has one) before selecting a size. Mattress toppers can significantly increase the height of your mattress. Before the wrinkles make you turn the other way, we found it crucial to let you know that; the wrinkle-free finish you might be looking for is ensured by a resin that releases formaldehyde, which is not favorable for people with sensitive skin/hair.
