What are Amazon Brand Stone & Beam Tencel Bed Sheet Set Made of?
Lenzing AG is an Austrian company that owns the brand name Tencel. This means that Amazon Brand Stone & Beam Tencel bed sheets are imported. Being imported does not make them less tencel; in fact, they are 100% tencel. So, what are Tencel sheets made of?
Tencel (lyocell or modal) are regenerated fibers sourced from natural materials. The natural material in this case is the eucalyptus trees. During production, the eucalyptus wood pulp is converted into fibers.
Manufacturing uses the closed-loop process. This process is eco-friendly because almost all solvents(99%) used get reused and recycled, releasing almost zero waste to the environment. These solvents break down the wood pulp, which is then transformed to make Tencel. In a nutshell, these sheets (Tencel) are made of cellulose fibers made by dissolving eucalyptus wood pulp, which is then dried using a special drying process called spinning.
Our Amazon Brand Stone & Beam Tencel Bed Sheet Set Review
Before we dive into our detailed review on these bed sheets, let’s briefly look at why you should always check out reviews about a product you are interested in buying. Personally, most of my decisions on whether to purchase a product are based on the reviews I read.
Whether you are looking for bed sheets at an online or physical store, remember that the first thing you click on that website is customer reviews. Why? Because by doing so, you will get to know how the customers who bought and used the product interacted with it.
Did they love it? What did they not like? How about the company’s credibility? All these questions will be answered in the reviews. As it was said, one man’s meat is another man’s poison. What another customer did not like about the product might be what you are looking for.
Our review gives you honest and unbiased information on how and why we rated comfort, quality, eco-score, cooling, and easy maintenance features out of 10.
When it comes to comfort, these sheets do a great job. After removing these sheets from the amazing reusable bag they were packed in, they felt incredibly lightweight and soft. We went ahead and spread them on the bed. They had this silky and cool touch. At this point, we could barely wait to get to bed. Our experience after we slipped between these sheets was amazing. They were exceptionally soft and more comfortable than regular cotton sheets we had used before.
After using these sheets for a few weeks, they started to pill. The night you sleep feeling fuzzballs under you is not one to look forward to, trust me. We did not want to throw our dollars out, so we continued using these sheets.
You will not believe how glad we felt for not throwing these sheets away. After a few washes, these sheets got even softer, and the fuzzballs disappeared. What we are not sure so far is how long they will last.
Because of the above reasons, we decided to give comfort a rating of 8.1 out of 10.
We were looking for quality sheets ( you are too, right?) when we decided to order these sheets. These sheets turned out to be the quality we have been missing. They were incredibly soft and did not get hot while in use.
We loved their sheen, which was different from the 100% bamboo we were using before. What made me fall in love more with them was that I got no skin reaction like before. We ordered a purple color set that wowed us because it looked similar to what we had seen on our screens when we were doing the order. This color completely transformed our bedroom to something we had only thought was meant for the movies or the 5-star hotels where celebrities get their photos taken.
The only thing that frustrated us was that we had ordered the queen size, but with our 14-inch mattress, the sheet kept slipping off. This is why on a scale of 1 to 10, quality rated 9.2 out of 10.
We would not say we were environmentally conscious when we ordered sheets, but because the company advertised that these sheets were eco-friendly, we decided to do some research. What got us that satisfying feeling was to know that these sheets are eco-friendly.
We decided to give the eco-score a rating of 7.5 out of 10. Why? Our research found out that Tencel sheets can be mixed with conventional dyes that can be harmful to the environment. We do not want any harm on our mother earth, do we? We also learned an environmental concern with Tencel fabrics about energy use during the production process. The Lenzing AG company is working to address this by increasing its use of renewable energy sources.
Studies show that cold temperature helps us get more blissful nights of happy sleep. This explains why I was able to get restful and deep sleep whenever I used these sheets. Being a hot sleeper sucks, especially during summer. You wake up all sweaty with clothes sticking on your body like you just got out of a pool (that’s me!).
I had seen the advert that these sheets are all season and recommended for hot sleepers. I ordered the set right away, and no record of a single night I have woken sweaty so far (I’m still using the sheets). These sheets remain amazingly dry and fresh for long. When the temperatures were low during winter, I slept warm and cozy throughout the season.
Based on the above experience, our overall conclusion about these sheets is that their thermo-regulating feature is incredible. Some of the people who used these sheets reported that they felt no difference in temperature regulation. Some hot sleepers still slept hot. For this, we rated the cooling feature at 9.0 out of 10.
Easy maintenance (8.5/10)
Washing and caring for these sheets was definitely no different from other sheets we had used before. We followed the company’s instructions to machine wash in warm water and tumbled dry on medium. We also did not use any bleach as it is recommended.
Well, we did not like what came out of the washing machine. These sheets were so wrinkled that we had to iron them before using them.
If you hate ironing, then you better look elsewhere. This must iron factor led to our score of 8.5 out of 10.
Final verdict 8.5
Based on what the above features scored, the average score was 8.5. These sheets have advantages that make them worthy of every penny you spend.
This review has clearly shown why we would recommend these sheets any day, especially for hot sleepers. Suppose you can count on this sheet set for all seasons and sacrifice a little by ironing them. Well, why not try them out!
